Lebron is our sunshine
Logan Pauna and Adam Gerulis
Prior Lake, MN
2024, Junior, Poetry & Spoken Word

Lebron may be our sunshine
But the real sunshine is warming up the planet
And the sunshine is really just a headline
For a problem harder to crack than granite

The water levels are rising
The ice caps lose their sizing
But people are disguising
The real problem arising

The polar bears in the Arctic perish
Because mankind won’t change their ways
Weshould really cherish
Before these animals reach the end of their days

Polar bears aren’t the only thing affected
The water rising damages the coast
If these damages get neglected
It will affect the animals we know most

Weneed to band together in this time
To stop the changing of the climate
You could either listen to me rhyme
Or go do something about it

Something that inspired us to make our poem is the Lebron sunshine meme and how the real sun is actually a problem as it’s warming the planet rapidly. We're interested in making poems to send a message to a younger audience and that is why we made a reference to Lebron as it brings more attention to younger audiences to realize the problem of climate change. After researching climate change we have realized how important it is and how it will affect us and the generations to come as it’s causing sea levels to rise and temperatures to rise. Some actions that we can take in our community to tackle climate change is making sure to clean up our area and working our hardest to not produce waste.
