Let’s Make a Change Now

The ocean is dying
And no one is trying
To save our planet
I’ll try to help by rhyming
For once let’s take a stand
Work together, hand in hand
To save our precious earth
Why must we kill our ocean and land
We’re killing our planet
But we have time to stop it
Let’s make a change now
Not in climate but change what we care about
The earth loves us but do we love it
Our forever home and we’re killing it
The icebergs are melting
We need to start helping
10 years to stop this
So listen to my yelping
Ocean’s not a trash can
We all need a better plan
We don’t have a lot of time
So let’s help while we can
We’re killing our planet
But,
We have time to stop it
Let’s make a change now
Not in climate but change what we care about
The earth cares for us but do we care for it
Our forever home and we’re killing it
We always talk about some sports game
Awareness for climate change should be the same
Let’s talk about… it… now
We can stop… it… somehow
20 years from now
Will you still be making jokes about
How the polar bears of running out
Of what they call home and now
You won’t live to tell about
How you throw all your trash around
Our litter’s in oceans somehow
So
Let’s make a change now
Not in climate but change what we care about
The earth cares for us but do we care for it
Our forever home but we’re killing it
We always talk about some sports game
Awareness for climate change should be the same
Let’s talk about… it… now
We stop… it… somehow

Reflection
I wanted to make something funny, but I found it hard to address climate change with humor through words. I realized if we want people to listen, we can use things that appeal to them. I want listeners to understand what we are doing to our ocean and how we can stop it.
