Our society depends on the health of our environment and our oceans, and this interconnectedness is why now is the time to save the abundance of life that climate change threatens. My illustration depicts how the future is as fragile as a bubble and is determined by what we do in the present. The little girl blowing bubbles illustrates the importance of taking action, instead of just making wishes, in order to positively impact the future. The bubbles show not only the world, but also the different elements of the world that are negatively affected by the actions of humans. Climate change impacts many different aspects of our oceans from the polar bears stranded on melting ice to the fish trapped in oceans with rising temperatures. The bright colors in the bubble of the world symbolize the vibrancy of life that we will lose if we do not make improvements, such as reducing fossil fuel consumption, that will reverse the destruction of climate change. Just like our society depends on the resources of the ocean, the ocean depends on us to take care of it. Therefore, my artwork emphasizes the significance of taking action to build a better future and save our environment from climate change before it's too late.
