My Message in a Bottle

The gold painted bottle

Gleamed radiant as it floated in the distance

The force of the tide

Gloated as it removed the yellow bottle  cap

The bottle floated as if on high

To a place we call our home

Mother Nature growing old and alone

Raised up in rage

Mankind should uphold her marine life and oceans so dear

We gathered together all gripped with fear

The lush ocean that was once glowing and blue

Was  covered in plastic bottles and packets, oil and debris

Now this Mother Nature is but, to name a few

Do mankind not know they cannot do without us?

Huge ships pass us daily and litter without a fuss

The petite coral all bright yellow and red

Waved praises as they opened their hands, to receive the dead

The seagulls all drenched in black oil, float as if they were corks in wait for a catch

The clown fish do their last dance, as they seek safety in the wandering plastic packets

The skate fish tail got trapped in a rusted metal can

Shoals of baby fish swam into their trap

They were swept away in huge fishing nets

The cruel Pacific traders deposited their waste

This is such a disgrace

They had the biggest smiles I wonder why?

If there was life after death I would come back as a human

I will open their eyes to see the ocean through my eyes

I will fight to get a solution to this horrid ocean pollution

I would fight to put and end to plastic pollution

I would not grant licences to produce plastic as it could give some hope

I will let them think of the fish that are been harmed

I will let them think of the imbalance they are causing

By interfering in what Mother Nature intended to be the balanced ecosystem

I will let mankind know that there was once life in the oceans

There was once a fish, that gave up his life to give this message in a bottle…
