Reflection
My artwork expresses an environmental message through my unique Chinese cultural perspective. In Chinese tradition, names hold profound meanings and wishes from one’s parents. My name, 石上流, translates to "Flow on Rocks," which symbolizes water's ability to adapt while remaining persistent. This reflects my parents' hope for me to embrace flexibility and resilience in life, qualities that also speak to humanity's need to coexist with nature. In my piece of drawing, I chose oil paint for the foreground to represent my personal artistic expression, while using Chinese ink in the background to honor traditional techniques. The blending of these mediums mirrors the connection between my cultural heritage and contemporary creativity. Through this piece, I hope to invite contemplation about nature's teachings in a creative way. Like water that flows steadily yet transforms continuously, we too must find balance between constancy and change. I invite viewers to reflect on their connection to the natural world and discover insights for harmonious living.
