The prompt “transforming crisis” inspired me to showcase how humanity has damaged ocean habitats, and what we can do to reverse this damage. In order to represent this, I made a stop motion video with clay elements and construction paper backgrounds. During the research process, I learned that ocean acidification from burning fossil fuels decreases the populations of coral, shellfish, and other marine life. I believe we often take for granted the abundance of food and water we can obtain from the ocean. Similarly, we sometimes disregard the impact that nonrenewable energy sources have on ocean environments. However, if more people made small adjustments, such as walking instead of driving, the small changes will accumulate and create a cleaner world for everyone. Consequently, my goal for this video is to inspire others to take small steps in living more sustainably.
