Our Oceans, Our Plastic

Reflection
This is the first time I participate in something outside of school, and I want to say that: I’m not an artist, nor a writer. My motivation to make this video is actually “enrich my college personal statement, trying not to be a nerd”. By a chance, I watch the film “Midway”, and when I see the birds are struggling and dying, I start crying. Because I’m a SUPER bird lover, so I want to show people that: plastics are killing our friends, we are ruining the world. Instead of using data, showing birds’ lives is more powerful and meaningful to me. And when I show the video to my six-year-old sister, she can at least understand that: “birds are dying because their stomachs are full of trash”. I’m not a writer, and I can’t relate to the big data or the super-pro vocabulary use. I feel more related and engaged while watching videos with simple language use and fewer words. The words I used in the video are the same style as my daily conversations. Since my accent is heavy, my voice is not-so-pretty, and my speaking style is just NOT persuasive nor academic, I choose to type the word out. Hopefully, the video can gather more people to start caring about the earth.
