Reflection
The first memory of water that came to mind was when I was swimming in the ocean and felt something wrap around my foot. It was a plastic bag. I remember the slimy feeling of the bag. This was not a one-time occurrence. I have found plastic trash in the ocean while swimming way too many times to count. This memory inspired my work, as it showed that my water story was not of the beauty of the ocean, but of the plastic that is within it--plastic that is killing it, plastic that is killing us. I wish to share with viewers that our water story of the ocean should not revolve around plastic memories. To change our water story, we need to change as a whole. As I was creating the film and doing further research on plastic pollution, the need for change became stronger as I found my plastic memories being supported by statistics. After completing this project, I have a stronger sense of duty. I plan on following what I say in the film to help our ocean. I plan on limiting my usage of plastic and continuing to raise awareness and educate myself further about our oceans.
