Reflection

My journey with environmental stewardship began when I was very young, planting some of the first seeds for a green wastewater treatment facility called the Omega Center for Sustainable Living located on the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies property where I spent all my summers from age 4 to 12. In 2014, I participated in the Great March for Climate Action, a group of people who walked from Los Angeles to Washington D.C. to inspire action to address the climate crisis. This was my first introduction to environmental activism, and it was during this time when I became committed to helping resolve the climate crisis and inspiring others to feel the same. I believe that one of the best ways I can inspire others to create change is through music. In Sanskrit, the word “Shanti” means peace, and “Gaia” represents the divine mother Earth. I am incredibly inspired by the union of individuals from all backgrounds, especially youth, working toward the common, critical goal of a greener future. My experiences have taught me that we can have impact when we work together. As John Muir says, "When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe."
