Reflection
Reflection

I’ve seen lots of photographs of what water rising is slowly doing and lots of images on what coastal cities could look like in the future. Even the slightest increase of sea levels can lead to devastating effects on coastal habitats. Although we can’t stop water from rising, we can at least slow it down. There are 5.25 trillion pieces and counting of plastic debris in the ocean, and as humans, we need to do better in preventing waste from going into the waters. I would like to be able to cut down on many of the unnecessary popular items such as plastic water bottles. Instead of throwing away billions of bottles, we can use filters for cleaner water. They provide a better future by reducing the amount of resources and waste. Knowing how the future will look like if we continue our route makes me want to take action and let others be aware. Through my piece, I hope people can see the disastrous consequences of our debris and how even one change can make a huge impact on our environment.
