Remembering a Disaster

Reflection

Climate change has caused hurricane activity to intensify, putting our world in danger. My grandparents were victims of hurricane Maria, which hit Puerto Rico in September of 2017. During the incident, 3.4 million people lost power, 1 million people lost access to water, 300,000 homes were destroyed or damaged, and 2,975 people lost their lives in Puerto Rico alone. In my artwork, I tried to show how devastated I am whenever I think about the tragedies that came out of hurricane Maria. My goal for the painting was to help spread the word about how climate change impacts the Earth, and to emphasize how badly we need to put an end to it, for the good of humanity and the planet we live on.
