Reflection

In my performance video, I demonstrate the impact of climate change on winter sports. My video shows my skating to my new program with the song “Rescue,” and I’m expressing my love for the sport. My video also includes video clips and images of things that demonstrate the impact of climate change on ice rinks like greenhouse gases, skating seasons shortening, and the use of ice rink refrigerants. To illustrate the harm done by climate change and to “rescue” planet Earth, I used the song “Rescue.” Like the lyrics in the song, “Oh, I will rescue you,” I will rescue planet Earth by being a part of the effort to mitigate climate change. I edited my video and put in clips of videos related to climate change and global warming. I would love to be able to illustrate the problems created by climate change to ice skating to raise awareness about the issues. As figure skaters, we should be influenced by good practice by having quality ice rinks for daily practice sessions and competitions. We should encourage sustainable innovation and efficiency so that skaters can practice in good conditions through innovation without climate change affecting the sport.
