Project Description: In the game, the player controls a shark named Bruce. The goal of the game is to rescue his friend Princess Sharkie, who is trapped in an area of the ocean because of trash. Bruce must save his friend by swimming to her through an ocean full of trash by dodging trash and eating fish along the way.

Reflection
Reflection

Living in California, I often visit the beach to enjoy the warm sand and vast ocean. I couldn’t help but notice some areas of the beach were covered with trash. Seeing the beach littered with trash inspired me to join beach cleaning efforts through a local beach cleanup program. When plastic is dumped into the environment, they enter waterways and break into smaller microplastics, which unfortunately are consumed by phytoplankton. Phytoplankton’s consumption of microplastics adversely reduces their ability to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and thus contributes to climate change in a profound way. I hope my game will not only inform players how trash harms the ocean and contributes to climate change but also inspire them to protect our ocean and reverse our planet’s climate change.
