Reflection
Reflection

I decided to compose and perform this piece to represent the rising sea levels that result from increasing sea surface temperatures. The forceful sound conveyed in the beginning of the piece mirrors the panic and stress of marine mammals. Discovering that the rising temperatures in the atmosphere results in coral bleaching and the loss of breeding grounds in the ocean immensely pained me. I wanted to turn this pain into an expressive piece to give marine animals a voice while also raising awareness on the ongoing climate crisis. Looking beyond the Contest, I want to continue raising awareness on the negative effects of climate change through music. I plan on performing at events for children in order to educate them on climate change in a fun and interactive way!
