Reflection
Living in Hawai’i, I grew up surrounded by miles of ocean and coral reef. From a very young age, I was taught to care for Mother Nature and all of its gifts. When I learned the severity of our dying coral reefs, I knew I wanted to help. This video is only a small represntation of the passion I have for the subject. I wanted to emphisize the importance of coral reefs and how if they died, there would be dramatic consequences. Before this project, I never completely understood to what extent the coral reefs do for us. I also learned that many people do not understand that the little things they do every day have major effects on the coral reefs. I still have hope that we can change the future of our reefs because its not too late. With new scientific advancements and videos like these, we can help bring awareness and make a difference. The unfortunate events of Covid-19 gave coral reefs the time to flourish and now people understand how much of a difference we can really make. From now on, I will try my best to be more mindful about everyday tasks like saving electricity, riding my bike more, and most importantly spreading the word.
