Climate Hero: Joshua Caraway

Project Description: I created this graphic novel by hand using pencil and color pencils.

Reflection

While researching about how climate change affects oceans, I also learned how different countries and companies have made positive changes, which makes me feel hopeful about our future. Oceans are home to many species and provide most of the oxygen we breathe, and plastic not only harms fish and other species but also the underwater plants by blocking sunlight. I came across an article about a boy named Joshua Caraway who cleaned up a beach in Miami and inspired people around the world. My fictional story conveys the message that plastic is harmful to every single living organism on this planet, but if we work together to make small changes in our lives, they will build up to make a big difference. The characters in my story switched from plastic bottles and bags to reusable bottles and bags, and many people in my community have done the same.
