Reflection
Growing up in San Francisco, I have always been very aware of sea level rise. When I was a child, the concept of the ocean rising and destroying my home felt like a reasonable nightmare, and it terrified me. As I have gotten older, my fears have stopped revolving around my own safety, and have shifted towards people who it affects the most, as well as the natural world. Nothing seems more depressing of a concept than innocent animals dying because of things that we humans have done. Entering this contest, I knew that I wanted to approach it through one of my passions, music. I have been teaching myself to play the piano for two years, and love songwriting. This contest seemed like a great opportunity to combine two of my interests, Bo Burnham style song writing and climate change. For me, the contest was something which was inexplicably fun and educational.
