Project Description: Splish Splash Memory Match uses the traditional approach of a memory game. Each card has an image on one side and each photo appears on two cards. The game begins with all of the cards face down, and the player turns over two cards. If the two cards have the same picture, they keep them; otherwise, they turn the cards face down again. The cards consists of ten different fun and humorous illustrations which reflect on the life underwater.
Reflection
Climate change has heightened uncertainties about our future. As its effects worsen over time, one thing is certain: the Earth will be left to future generations. Therefore, addressing the climate crisis is crucial for today's children. The message which each of this illustrations are conveying is related to the different areas of climate change such as, sea level rise, ocean pollution, and more. We were interested in such a specific type of game because memory games give space for critical thinking and that helps children nurture their attention to detail. Memory games can also improve visual recognition. With many memory games based on spotting differences, or linking two related images, children improve their visual discrimination. Through a less recognized target audience of children, I hope this memory game will help effectively raise awareness of the troubles our ocean is facing.
