Reflection
My art piece, inspired by a deep concern for climate change and its environmental impacts, relates to my personal experiences living in Busan, a coastal region in South Korea. Here, the rising sea levels are a constant threat, eroding the beaches and endangering the beautiful coastline, particularly in areas like Haeundae. The sand on these beaches is gradually disappearing, leading to significant damage. Witnessing these changes motivated me to create this artwork. The artwork combines realism and surrealism, aiming to provoke thought and emotion and urging viewers to reflect on the consequences of our actions. I am drawn to the arts for their unique ability to communicate complex ideas and inspire change. Creating this piece evoked a mix of urgency, concern, and hope, allowing me to channel my anxieties about the future into something meaningful. My message is clear: climate change is a pressing issue we cannot ignore, and we must take responsibility and act collectively to preserve our planet. Through my research, I have learned about the severe impacts of human activities, underscoring the need for immediate action. Beyond individual efforts like recycling, I plan to engage with my community through advocacy, education, and clean-ups to tackle climate change collectively and contribute to a sustainable future.
