During my formative years, my mom brought home a pufferfish we named Tommy. Though I was always captivated by the ocean, this new friend of mine was the stimulus I needed to become fully invested. The underwater world holds tremendous beauty in which I am devastated to see being annihilated due to human activity. SUPERTOMMY: Oceanic Champion! functions as a unique way to garner attention towards this serious issue while acting as a tribute to the fish who ignited my passion for the subject. I have been well-versed on the topic of climate change for quite some time, yet taking on this project has instilled something in me that was never there before: hope for the future. Numerous students have worked, are working, and will work on unique and fun projects calling for the action. If I had not discovered the Contest, I would not have acknowledged this dedication so many people of my generation have towards helping our oceans heal.
