Climate Hero: Sylvia Earle, Ocean Defenders
Reflection
I sought to depict a scene where a person is submerged in the ocean. As her tears roll down her face, the tears purify the polluted ocean water. I wanted to show that anyone who cares for the environment can save our ocean just like how my climate hero, Sylvia Earle, dedicated her life to saving marine ecosystems. I believe her sorrow over the pollution that harms marine life on Earth contributed to her deep commitment to environmental preservation. My painting also portrays people who do not act on climate change and do not think this is a global issue regretting destroying their environment. Let us all care for the environment and save the planet we all share. In addition, my Climate Hero makes efforts to tell people to avoid making the same mistakes her generation did so that the next generation can have a cleaner and safer world with less pollution, severe storms, hotter temperatures, and species loss. Hence, even the slightest actions can help the ocean heal, recover and make a positive impact.
