I replaced the objects we see in a claw machine with plastic waste, and the ultimate "prize" as a colorful fish. This illustrates the eagerness to save the marine animals from plastic waste, which aggravates climate change. This sentiment is parallel to the wish to win a "toy prize" from the claw machine at the arcade. When we think of the detrimental effects that plastics have on our environment, most of us consider incorrect plastic disposal and plastic dumps to be the problem. However, a largely overlooked factor is the production of plastic that leads to the emission of fossil fuels. These fossil fuels in return contribute to climate change. Much of the warming we cannot feel in the atmosphere is because the ocean absorbs most of the heat. This heat causes suffering of marine animals that are usually adapted to a very narrow temperature range. When we look at the piles of plastic dumps on the beach, it is not only plastic pollution we see, but also a sad reminder of climate change.
