Reflection

My painting shows humans and turtles living in harmony. This scene is a modern take on The Creation of David by Michelangelo, featuring my chosen climate hero, Mr. Sidhant Gupta. He is the founder of Clearbot, a self-operating marine robot that harnesses advancements in technology and AI. Mr. Gupta reaching towards the green sea turtle symbolises the interconnectedness between people and our oceans. It captures the urgency of our current environmental crisis and for us to step up in taking action to effect change that would would otherwise result in irreversible destruction to our planet. Bright colours are chosen to depict the vibrancy of life and a sense of energy that still exists in our world, despite being fast-disappearing. This work acts as a reminder of how we all have the power, even as individuals, to take action and make a difference no matter how small. It is a reflection of what we have done to the world around us and how we have the power to take steps towards positive change.
