My artwork is deeply rooted in the memories of my childhood. When I was in the kindergarten, the seeds of the phoenix trees never falling down. But nowadays, due to the climate change, the seeds of the phoenix tree are scattering everywhere, and the falling fluff causes allergies. The creative process involved the deep dive into understanding deforestation and the climate change. Before making this artwork, I searched for some information and learnt that climate change is a global crisis with far-reaching consequences. It is not only an environmental issue but also a global crisis with profound implication for our social, economic, and political systems. I hope I can use this artwork to inspire more people to realize that climate change is the risk our planet faces. It requires our collective effort to mitigate the bad effects. The process of creating my artwork was a mix of emotions. It was both enlightening and humbling to learn about the climate change. There was a sense of urgency and responsibility that came with the realization of the damage we have caused. At the same time, there was a feeling of hope in being part of a movement to raise awareness and effect change. We can reduce the number of car journeys in favor of walking. Reuse old clothes and toys by donating them to a charity shop. Recycle bottles and cans properly. Every single help can make the world difference.
