The Hunt for HOPE
Qamar Saitovski
Indianapolis, IN
2020, Senior, Interactive & Multimedia

Project Description: In this website, users will go through a virtual scavenger hunt to crack a message that gives information on conquering climate change. In order to find the ten missing clues, users may need to read different pages, watch videos, complete quizzes, or go through different slides. The website will give instructions on what steps they need to complete on each page they choose to go on. Once all ten clues are found, users will go to the menu bar and find the code cracker. They will insert their results to crack the secret message with the clues they found.

Reflection

When I first learned about global warming and its cause of climate change in eighth grade, I didn't think much of it because it felt like one of those things that only adults and scientists seemed to care about. It never felt like I could make some kind of impact that would help fix our planet's suffering. Now, I'm a rising senior and I've realized that any action is better than taking no action at all. I really wanted others to recognize the power of making change too, This helped inspire the idea of The Hunt for HOPE: a virtual scavenger hunt with hidden clues that would help crack the secret message to conquering climate change. I learned that people are always looking for answers to problems they don't understand. I didn't want this to be another example of one, so when I created my scavenger hunt, I made sure its focus wasn't just about climate change - it was about our oceans as whole. Through each page and interactive activity, you're able to understand the impact our oceans have on this planet, creating a call of urgency on why our oceans desperately need help. My message to everyone is to have HOPE. We can't expect climate change to be a problem fixed on its own. We can't expect scientists or experts to mend the problems harming our environment. If we work together, there is hope that we can all conquer climate change before it's too late.
