The Industrial Eye

Reflection
The idea for this piece emerged from contemplating how we perceive our relationship with the natural world through the lens of industrialization. I was inspired by the contradiction between human progress and environmental consequence - how our "vision" of advancement often blinds us to the damage we inflict on nature. Creating this work felt both overwhelming and cathartic, much like confronting environmental anxiety itself. The process of layering watercolors allowed me to build complexity gradually, mirroring how industrial impact accumulates over time. I chose watercolor because its fluid, organic nature contrasts beautifully with the rigid mechanical elements I was depicting, creating visual tension that reflects our disconnect from nature.
