Reflection

My artistic inspiration originated from an MBN TV show I encountered recently, featuring a remarkable individual named Jo Sung-hee. Once a member of the UDT, Jo Sung-hee tragically injured his arm, leaving him unable to continue his service as a marine police officer. Despite this setback, Jo Sung-hee chose not to be defeated. Instead, he embraced a new path of helping others. Jo Sung-hee selflessly embarked on a mission to safeguard the environment. His commitment involves cleaning the shores of the ocean and city streets, tirelessly striving to prevent pollution and protect nature without seeking any public recognition. Witnessing his unwavering dedication to the ocean’s well-being profoundly impacted my perspective of “heroes.” This encounter reaffirmed my belief that anyone possesses the potential to become a hero as long as they possess a firm determination. I want my artwork to inspire individuals worldwide to follow Jo Sung-hee’s footsteps and actively work towards improving society. By raising awareness of the selfless acts performed by these silent heroes, I aim to ignite a desire within others to contribute positively to their communities. Thus, my ultimate goal is to encourage the audience to become heroes in their own ways, motivated by their personal convictions and the genuine desire to make a difference. This competition taught me a vital lesson in appreciating and respecting the resources we often take for granted, especially the ocean, which offers us so much. I desire to gather collective efforts toward ocean conservation as we thrive as a community where social influence plays a pivotal role in fostering positive societal advancements.
