Reflection

My work was inspired by the efforts of Phra Mahapranom Dhammalangaro, a climate hero who turns Bangkok’s plastic waste into robes for Buddhist monks. As a Buddhist, Dhammalangaro is a master of transforming the mind; through means such as meditation, he is able to turn “brain waste” such as feelings of anger and jealousy into feelings of positivity such as forbearance and joy. But what if he could do the same with the environment? With determination, he embarked on a journey to reduce plastic waste and reverse pollution. Through this collective effort, these climate heroes have been able to process 10 tonnes of plastic waste every month. Thus, Dhammalangaro once said “We need to clean material waste out, as well as clean the waste in the brain. Then, we will find true happiness.”
