After brainstorming ideas, I came up with an idea for a sushi platter using real animals. The environment around them took shape with each portion of the meal showcasing Japanese culture and the affected ocean animals through metaphoric representation. For example, soy sauce leaking onto the platter illustrates oil affecting marine animals' environment. A platter we usually regard as beautiful was donned with a horrific scene of animals served to humankind's metallic (chopstick) grip. This scene resurfaced above the waves, something that should alert the worldwide community. But even with a warning sign so brightly displayed, some people ignore it and only see what they want to see. No matter how much we sugarcoat or ignore it, the truth behind aquatic beauty is clear: we are the greatest cause of climate change. And that is the role we play.
