Reflection
Reflection

Every living organism on the earth needs water to survive, and pollution in our oceans remains a serious problem. The two major issues shown in my art are toxic/nuclear waste and oil spills. I depicted this through the combination of a literal and symbolic union of samsara. The whale centerpiece acts as a symbol for humanity. Even though we have done damage, we can untimely learn to grow out of it. The whale is a vehicle of hope, filled with motifs of my personal dreams and aspirations. I wanted to use the symbol of the two children on the whale to indicate my biggest dream, which is to change and help the world. My piece inspires action. It illustrates a constantly polluted ocean; however, it also portrays the ability/power the next generation has in their hands to heal the world.
