My piece portrays the world’s pollution through many aspects in the image. The dead fish in the center represents what will happen to humanity and all beings on Earth if pollution is allowed to continue. The trash floating in the sky symbolizes weapons and bombs, raining down into the ocean from above. The animals seen in the picture, bleeding oil and trash, are a tribute to all the marine life who met their inevitable end in the fierce war between the ocean and pollution. A cold, grey hand reaches out from the ocean, pouring oil into the beautiful blue sea, staining the water black. Finally, the innocent-looking butterflies resting upon the dead fish’s eye represent humanity right now in the present. Although we as humans like to believe that we are intelligent and above other animals, we are the ones who are killing them off. What does that make us? We’re no better than the most savage and dangerous of animals. It’s time to put an end to pollution and take responsibility for all the wounds we have inflicted on our Earth.
