The Way To a More Sustainable Future
Shenzhen, China
2025, Senior, Interactive & Multimedia
Project Description: This project is a website that talks about urbanization and how it affects people and the environment. It covers categories such as what urbanization is, how nature helps our physical and mental health, what actions we can take at home, school, communities and in our cities, and examples of eco-friendly designs already being used in cities. The website combines different types of content. It uses written information to explain ideas and pictures to help people understand better. These images include things like solar panels, drawings of green buildings, and photos of real-life examples. The pictures support what is being said and make the website more interesting and easier to follow. By using both text and visuals, the website shares the message in a clearer and more engaging way.

Living in Shenzhen, I’ve witnessed how fast a city can grow: skyscrapers rising, roads expanding, and nature being pushed aside. I used to pass by areas where mangrove trees once grew, and now they’re mostly gone. That made me feel disconnected from nature. But recently, I saw a building designed with plants growing on its walls, and it completely shifted my perspective. It showed me that even in a fast-developing city, nature can be included in smart and beautiful ways. This moment made me curious, I began to wonder: if change is happening here, what about the rest of the world? Are other cities facing the same challenges? Are they also trying creative ways to bring nature back into urban life? These questions motivated me to explore more deeply, and that’s how the idea for the website started. I wanted to learn from global examples, and share what I found with others in a creative and accessible way. Through this project, I’ve learned how deeply nature affects our physical and mental health. I also came to understand better the mutual relationship between people and nature—how we depend on it for survival, and how our actions, in turn, shape the future of the environment. Now I feel a stronger respect and appreciation for the environment, and I wish through this project, I can encourage others to notice the nature around them, understand its value, and take small actions to protect it.
