Alaska is a fun place
There is so much to face
Running around in the bright sun
Can be so much fun
They say it used to snow here
But I find that quite unclear
Alaska is the sunshine state
They say that used to be Florida’s trait
But Florida sunk a while ago
Now it’s nothing but a faux
They say there used to be an animal named a polar bear
I don’t really know where
Apparently, its home disappeared
How can a home disappear, I find that weird
They say kids used to play in snow
But that ended a long time ago
They say there was a time when we didn’t have to filter our own water
When water from lakes and rivers was pure water
They say there was a time when sea levels weren’t so high
When turtle eggs wouldn’t die
We will never get to go back
Now we are stuck in a world that is whack
All because of humanity’s actions
Now we get all of these reactions
But now it doesn’t even matter
Because the world is already a disaster
It is like this because
The only thing people seemed to do was say
They never seemed to just do
Reflection
Although some people are spreading messages about how climate change will affect the world, this isn’t enough. That is the message my poem is trying to give. We need to start acting on our words. We can talk all we want, but unless we all come together as a community and try to put a stop to greenhouse gasses, nothing will change.
