Reflection
While my home state may be void of any coastlines and salty water, my memories are not. Ever since I was young, I've admired and loved the ocean. One year, I went to North Carolina to visit family members and experienced the ocean for the first time. That was 12 years ago, and so much has changed, from global warming to pollution and exploitation of the environment. The main focus of my artwork is the hourglass and iceberg inside it. The hourglass is an irony. While it represents how time is ticking by, it's also in the shape of a lemniscate. This represents how sometimes we take resources for granted. The iceberg inside is melting away. The drops gathering at the bottom of the hourglass represent rising sea levels. In the background, there is another story - it's one of how global warming is affecting animals (in my drawing, polar bears) as well.
