Too Hot to Breathe

The world is changing
For better or for worse
Some may say I’m crazy and
Some even say it’s a curse
ButI know the truth
Our oceans have been through so much
They can’t handle much more
All these creatures dyin’
And whales washing ashore
No one
Tells us the truth
And that is why I’m here
To spread awareness for our
Friends in the sea
How happy we’d be
If we could all see
That we are
Hurting the planet
Killing the oceans
The temperatures rising
It’s getting too
Hot to breathe
The snow is melting
The only thing that’s getting colder is our hearts
They say
There is so much out there
That we have yet to explore
But we already have so much
Why do you need more
We all
Deny the truth
So what comes next?
Well what should we do?
I hear these questions, I guess we need an answer
I’ll just have to tell you
So now
You want the truth
There’s so much information
About what i’m saying
We all say we would try
But these creatures still die
Do you realize
That we still are
Hurting the planet
Killing the oceans
The temperatures rising
It’s getting too
Hot to breathe
The snow is melting
The only thing that’s getting colder is our hearts
Take a hike, climb a mountain, ride a bike
Get out of the car, bus, or train
Earth’s our planet
And it provides for us
And what do we do in return
We take the oceans
These beautiful waters
And we add pollution
And heat up all earth offers
How do we see that as fair
Think about all that
Maybe you could try to help our
Friends in the sea
Maybe now you see
How happy we’d be
If we’d just stop
Hurting the planet
Killing the oceans
The temperatures rising
It’s getting too
Hot to breathe
The snow is melting
The only thing that’s getting colder is our hearts
Our hearts
Ooh, our hearts
The only thing that should be getting warmer is our hearts
Reflection
I was greatly inspired by my stepmom, Mary. She works with oceanic studies and sciences, and travels all over the country to meet with people to try and make our world a better place. She has instilled in me a love of learning, and I want to create that same impact on others. I want people to listen to my song and take from it a want to learn about the ocean, and do what they can to help make our world a better, healthier place. I learned that there are so many things that I can easily do to make an impact on society. I will volunteer to help, by doing things such as beach cleanups, and volunteering at marine wildlife conservation organizations/programs. Finally, I will instill the love of learning I have gained in others, and give them hope for the future. I believe that there IS hope, because hundreds of people are joining the cause every day, spreading awareness and helping our planet return to its normal state. This song brought out feelings in me I didn't expect. It brought out a longing feeling. A longing for the earth to be treated as it should, especially the oceans. Now I am going to take that feeling, and turn it into power. Together, we CAN make a difference.
