Reflection
The Earth is a precious place to live, and it is amazing to see the endless resources humans take for granted. After all, we, humans are further destroying this beautiful planet day after day. My digital art piece, "Trapped" is also based on the human impacts on marine life. This art piece reflects marine animals being trapped inside the mischievous actions by human beings. I clearly depicted my thoughts of an ideal ocean slowly being polluted by dark and cloudy bits of waves which resemble the human impacts. To portray the animals' willingness to get out, I added in numerous dark waves and bright colored waves which both border the animals from a utopian ocean above and a polluted ocean below. Furthermore, I chose to centralize my artwork on the polar bear, one of the most widely known marine mammals which symbolize hope and strength. Hence, I tried to include a sense of hope and change by using this symbolic animal as my central focus. In the end, I believe that the process of creating this artwork really made me perceive how impactful our past and present actions are to millions of organisms including ourselves.
