Reflection
In the picture, a person is sitting and eating a meal. I wanted to portray the microplastics, heavy metals, and chemicals that we unknowingly consume on a daily basis through our food. The trash and the pollution that is released into the environment enters the food chain, ending up in the food we eat. At a quick glance, the frame of this painting may look normal. On a closer inspection, you can see different factors contributing to pollution: single use plastics, electronics, metal cans, unused medicine, and more. Through my artwork, I hope to raise awareness of the seriousness of pollution. In my own time, I volunteer at my school’s Green Club. Through this, I’ve done various activities like running a town wide styrofoam drive, gardening, and planting trees. With such a complicated problem like global warming, it is not something that can be solved in one try. However, if more people join in, we can combat climate step by step and protect our Earth.
