I was inspired to make this painting by the many landslides that keep happening around LA. They're dangerous to the city because they keep destroyjng people's houses and roads, but they keep happening because of climate change! There's more flooding now than ever and I learned that the city isn't built to handle it, to the water just keeps wrecking everything. This is what inspired me to make this painting since I also painted it chaotically, like a flood. I believe that the arts are the most important way to express yourself and really talk about serious issues, since artists and their messages are remembered throughout history. I felt a lot of frustration when painting this because I kept thinking about all the damage that the floods in LA cause. My message to people who see my painting is that climate change is really serious and not just days getting hotter. It's also flooding and storms and hurricains! I learned so much terrifying stuff when doing research for this paitning, and it makes me want to try and find solutions that I can work on with my family more than recycling!
