I entered this contest because I care about the ocean and the life living in it and it’s important to remind people to stop polluting the oceans. This contest brings a lot of awareness to everyone about how much we pollute the oceans, seas, rivers, and lakes with useless debris. It wouldn’t be much fun if marine animals dumped trash in our houses.
Instead of pictures, stuffed animals, and her favorite balloon, the little girl visits the ocean everyday hoping to see the legendary humpback whale, that use to swim freely in the oceans that are now completely covered with trash and plastic.
I used water colors to resemble our oceans, and sketchy outlines for the little girl, the trash, and the whale to make it seem like it came straight from a child’s imagination. I also made the whale stand out with black foam board (can’t tell very well in the 1st photo, but the 2nd photo shows it more clearly) for a 3D effect to make him pop out more.
I hope my artwork inspires other artists around the world and people to become more eco-friendly.
