Did you know that, each year, there is enough plastic thrown away to circle the Earth four times? Unimaginable, isn’t it? More and more of the plastic we use are being found in the oceans, from grocery bags to water bottles. It may not seem much of a harm leaving your grocery bag out on the sidewalk, but eventually the wind will pick up this bag, fly it into the ocean, and there, the animals will suppose this bag is edible, and so they will eat it. And that is the cause of millions of animals dying- plastic.
The piece of artwork I have illustrated is a seahorse. Seahorses are one of the most endangered animals living in the sea. Seahorses are small creatures, so they can easily get trapped in a form of plastic- water bottles. When they are trapped in water bottles, they are not able to get out and find food, so eventually they will die. People should truly think about the harm they are causing on ocean animals when they litter. So, the next time you have an empty grocery bag, remember to throw it away in a trash can, to ensure the lives of our ocean friends.
