Reflection

From entering this contest, I have learned so much about our oceans than I ever knew before. As I researched about the pollution in our oceans, I learned how it isn’t just about the cleanliness of our oceans, but how it affects our ecosystem as a whole. The ocean covers over 70 percent of our world’s surface, which is another reason we must focus on keeping it clean. It destroys not only habitats for our sea creatures, but the habitats in which they live in. Our earth’s future lies in our hands. In my art piece, I have created the visual image of what is happening to life in our ocean. We are draining the color from the ocean and substituting it with colorless waste. The pollution that we create is ignored because it goes under the surface of the water unseen. However, the oceans are so polluted that there are miles of ocean surface covered in waste that we have created. By creating this pollution, we are only depriving ourselves of the natural beauty of the ocean. This research has opened my eyes to realize that we can create a better future for the Earth, one piece of garbage at a time.
