Reflection
Recently, climate change has become more and more extreme and obvious, and I feel the changing of the world also. When I get up and see the vanishing fresh air and fewer trees, I really feel disappointed and heartbroken. So I decided to create this artwork based on my personal experience of traveling to Kelowna, viewing the moment of the ruined forest after the wildfire. During the research and preparation time, I realize that even our tiny actions can impact the world a lot. The use of air conditioners, driving cars, and even smoke from factories all make climate change worse. It occurs in tiny changes, with the weather becoming hotter, trees becoming darker, until now we just realize how horrible climate change is. I want to use the artwork to warn people that if we don’t take any action to save the world and slow down climate change, there will be one day when all forests and all the green in nature vanish, and we all have to wear masks to protect ourselves. I also wanted to highlight the irony of the wildfire’s cause, which is climate change, something caused by cars. But in the face of the fire, we still need to rely on cars to escape. Lastly, I want to say that in the future I’ll never forget the heartbreak I felt while making the artwork and will start calling and teaching everyone the importance of stopping climate change with the hard work from all my community.
