Climate change is a frequently discussed topic these days. Sea levels are rising, glaciers are melting, and temperatures are fluctuating everywhere in the world. The news constantly tells us what is going on, but no seems to take action to prevent the ultimate catastrophe, which is the earth becoming uninhabitable. The feeling of sadness for the turtles and other sea creatures who lost their lives after the ship ”X-Press Pearl” caught fire and sank in the Indian Ocean inspired me to create this artwork. My art portrays how a little girl who reads about water rising is saddened when thinking of what the world will be like for a baby born in future. I have shown several causes of global warming, such as deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions from factories and vehicles, as well as effects of global warming, such as melting glaciers and icebergs reducing the habitat of animals like penguins and polar bears. The little baby represents our future. My message to viewers is that our actions are destroying our future, but that it is not too late to change. I will share my drawing with family, relatives, and friends to raise awareness and also share the knowledge that I gained during my research. I will also participate in activities related to the prevention sea level rise and make sure to minimize my contributions to climate change.
