Water’s Hierarchy

Reflection

I had always known water was used and thrown away by people who hold higher positions in society while many people in developing countries deeply covet water, sometimes traveling miles just to have a drink of water. Through the process of creating this piece, however, I learned much more about water’s correlation to society. Water is mainly given to people with more money who are considered a “higher priority." They waste it away without a second thought, which is portrayed by the man showering in my piece. The water spirals down into a stream where other wealthy people are using it as something to view and swim in, and not as a necessity. Next, we have a lady, drinking water out of the stream. She has no other resource, but the water is still relatively clean. Downstream, the boy has only one resort: to drink out of the dirty water.
