Writing this song was challenging and easy for me at the same time. It was a subject I have many opinions and thoughts on. I created this song in my room with my notebook and guitar, plucking out tunes I thought felt eerie enough to match the subject matter I was writing on. I have been very invested in all ocean matters, it has been my goal ever since I was a small child to become a marine biologist. Becoming a marine biologist not only is a dream job but also a job where I can make a difference, especially when it comes to climate change and how humans affect the ocean and our planet. When it came to the lyrics the chorus is meant to be from the perspective of these creatures whose ecosystem is being destroyed, the verses however are more of a warning. The grinding and gnashing of the drills echoes similar biblical references when talking about Hell, when talking about factories spewing dust and murderers hidden in trench coats it is simile for how big corporations care little for the environment and spew pollution into our atmosphere. There are tiny changes in the way things are pronounced or changes of common collocations that are used in the English language, plays on words were definitely a piece of the original composition. The bridge is of course the final warning and simple statement, if we don't reverse this process immediately, we will face extinction.
