Reflection
Dance and the outdoors are my two biggest loves, my two largest passions. I never thought their paths could cross or their stars would align. But I found a way. I thought it was ridiculous at first to dance with only the leaves watching, the bugs spectating. But it felt just right, and it was truly a scream without sound. A release— a way to flow out the pent up energy and emotion. Beyond dance, the mere act of being in the presence of nature snaps me into the present. Being able to look at trees swishing in the wind, the sun melting in a sky of pastels, and listening to the chirping of life, is a feeling I want to grasp every moment of every day. That’s why I do everything outdoors, and stay as long as I can on the rooftop. Like I said, nothing flashy, but nature gives me the best version of myself, much like dance, so why not chase that version of myself as much as I possibly can? That’s what inspired me to make this piece. Merely a feeling that I want to express to the entire world.
