Makeup products allow us to feel more glamorous and confident–and better yet, they are easy to use. However, many of us are unaware that these products have a serious negative impact on the environment. Used makeup wipes, face masks, and cotton balls that have been carelessly thrown out and flushed down the toilet heavily damage the ocean and sea creatures. As a matter of fact, when I visited a beach during spring break, the sea was littered with used face masks, cotton balls, and other various beauty products. Seeing all this trash contaminating the ocean, I felt a sense of urgency to spread awareness of ocean pollution caused by the non-reusable beauty products. Hopefully, after viewing my artwork, people will become encouraged to find ways to prevent further pollution by using reusable wipes, sponges, and other products that utilize eco-friendly materials.
