Why is Climate Change So Serious?
Pembroke Pines, FL

What’s so bad about having a giant pool to swim in
The only bad part about it would be the number of fins
Earth is starting to get hotter, and the sun is beginning to shine like a beam
That must just be a sign to put on more sunscreen
The more pollution we throw into the Earth’s air
The worse water-based vacation we’ll have to bear
Many who don’t know how will have to learn to swim
Because soon humanity will be living in a giant water bin
As the ice everywhere starts to melt
The impactful effects of climate change will be felt
Soon the changes will be irreversible
And the Earth will gradually become more submersible
Just steps closer to making the Earth an everlasting paradise
As Earth gets stripped of its ice
Reflection
Writing this poem made me feel emotional because although I was writing a humorous point-of-view on climate change, researching the topic still made me fear the effects of it. It’s not just a topic you can brush off your shoulder and not take seriously because it’s a real thing. My message to the readers of my poem is to please take climate change seriously, and do whatever you can to help spread awareness of climate change.
