After reading this year’s contest prompt, I was immediately inspired to step outside and explore my neighborhood for creative ideas. During my walk, I noticed an abundance of wild turkeys, which sparked my imagination. I took several photos and decided to make these birds the central focus of my artwork. As I continued developing my piece, I began thinking more deeply about the question, “What can people do to help protect the environment?” This led me to include small but impactful actions into my drawing, such as planting trees, or choosing to bike or walk instead of driving. I chose colored pencils as my medium because I feel most confident using them, and they allow me to express detailed messages effectively. Through this process, I’ve realized that even the smallest actions can create meaningful change. My goal is to show viewers that these individual efforts can collectively lead to a better future for our planet.
