Today, global warming is one of the biggest issues present in modern society. Global warming has become so problematic that it brings upon the risk of a life-threatening increase in water levels. I wish to inform people that this worldwide should be addressed immediately. I chose newspapers because they are something that were heavily used in the past and still somewhat exist in the present. In the future we know that newspapers will be nonexistent, but by using them in my artwork, I wanted to make it known that the news shown in the different newspapers can occur in a few decades or even years from now. I learned that global warming that is contributing to sea levels rising is also negatively affecting the animals that live on large sheets of ice. Surprising amounts of icebergs are melting which means that the creatures that live on the ice will start drifting away from their home because of the broken ice that will carry them to other regions of the Earth that they are not supposed to be at. I showed this piece of information in my artwork in one of the newspapers where it shows a polar bear and penguin drifting to areas where humans are living. These animals were born to only live in areas that are low in temperature, so they wouldn’t be able to easily survive in the areas of Earth that are typically hotter than the animals’ homeland. It is essential that people realize that the issue of sea levels rising is very severe and I will try to spread this awareness by uploading my artwork on social media and asking my friends and others to try to also share my artwork. I will also partake in campaigns that try to spread awareness regarding global warming’s increasing contribution to rising sea levels.
